Today is a time to indulge in the fond memories of days gone by, the glory days if you will of the Boy Scouts of America program.  If you were ever a boy scout and remember the campfires, the mentors, fellowship and great outdoor activities... today you can honor those memories and maybe pull out some old photos for reminiscing. 


The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest rank that can be achieved in the BSA and from the year 1911, approximately 2,598,999 Scouts have earned the Eagle Scout rank.  


A Boy Scout is a member of "The Boy Scouts of America" which is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States.  There are over 2 million members and an estimated 1 million adult volunteer leaders. Since being founded in 1910, over 110 million Americans have participated in the BSA program.   Scout members, of the program are expected to learn such values such as trustworthiness, good citizenship, and outdoors skills, through a numerous activities such as camping, hiking and fishing. The BSA has four large venues located throughout the United States to help carry out these activities and create fellowship among various troops.  Philmont Scout Ranch located in New Mexico is among the most famous and celebrated venues that attracted thousands of the most dedicated scouts each year.

Interesting Facts

  1. About 4% percent of all Scouts BSA have earned the Eagle Scout rank.
  2. West Point  admits an average of 1,183 cadets per class which includes about 239 Eagle Scouts or 20 %.
  3. The Scout Oath that members must recite: "On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight."
  4. Paul McCartney and John Lennon were both boy scouts.
  5. Artist Norman Rockwell was a huge fan of the boy scout program and has many paintings that feature the boy scouts.
