Most people start thinking about pines when they hear the word “evergreen,” but in reality the evergreens include many other species such as Junipers, Firs and Redwoods. The evergreen fir tree has traditionally been used fort thousands of years to celebrate winter festivals.  As far back in the days of Caesar. Romans even used the fir tree to decorate their homes.  In some cultures such as that in Saudi Arabia Christians have to celebrate Christmas not in the open but only in the privacy of their homes. Christmas lights are frowned upon in the area forcing families celebrated Christmas and putting up Christmas trees not in the windows or on display in their homes but in places only seen themselves rather than be shared with neighbors.

  5. The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree tradition has been ongoing since 1948.
