Description

Playing the violin in todays youth culture of video games and a host of other digital offerings, might not be as appealing as it once was.  Even the featured violin in some of the mainstream country music doesn't seem as prevalent as in years past.   One favorite classic country music song about violin playing that inspired many musicians and a song that everybody seemed to know the words was the hit "Devil went down to Georgia" by Charlie Daniels.  This song was inspiring as well as entertaining to aspiring musical talents.  Another song was "You gotta have a fiddle in the band" about how prominent violin playing was in the Texas country music scene was by the group Alabama.  You many be wondering know, what is a fiddle? A fiddle is actually just another term to describe the 4 string instrument.  The violin as we currently know it, originated in the early 16th-century around northern Italy.  Some of the  earliest examples of violins seen around Italy in 1530's had 3 strings.  Although most people identify with the violin being played with a bow, strumming or plucking are other ways the instrument can be used in bluegrass music for example.
