Even though audiobooks and e books are gaining in popularity, print books still sold aproximately 675 millions copies in 2019.  According to Guinness World Records, the Bible is the best-selling book of all time with an estimated 5 billion copies sold and distributed.

Description

The book has long given us the ability to express a thought or share a story or maybe the ability to write about a certain subject and share with others so they can learn too. So much advancement in the world has happen due to the invention of the book.  Credit is given to Johann Gutenberg for being the inventor of the movable-type printing press and producing the first printed book which was a Bible written in latin and printed in Germany. According to Guinness World Records, the Bible is the best-selling book of all time with an estimated 5 billion copies sold and distributed. The first concept for a library in the United States came from Founding Father, Benjamin Franklin.  The Library Company of Philadelphia, founded in 1731 that he and his friends started became the first American public library.  The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world and was established over 200 years ago.  Reading books is a great hobby and one that is highly encouraged for exercising your mind and furthering your knowledge about a variety of subjects.

  1. Originally selling for only 10 cents. In 2014 a #1 edition of Action Comics comic book sold for $3.2 millions dollars.  The comic book is famous for super hero Superman's debut.
  2. There are approximately 130 million different books in existence today.
  3. The longest sentence ever written in a book is 823 words.
  4. Strangely enough there is a word for the sight and smell of old books, Vellichor is that word.
  5. At 19.5 inches, the book Shree Haricharitramrut Sagar, a biography of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan is the worlds thickest book according to The Guinness Book of World Records.
